About Us:
History of True Colors Motorcycle
Club:
True Colors MC was started in 2001 with 7 members.
Dave Naylor Sr. and J.J. Cleary are the founding fathers of
TCMC and their goals in starting a new motorcycle club were:
(1) To belong to a club that was run by the membership.
(2) To belong to a club where all members were treated fairly
and equally.
(3) To belong to a club where the club itself did not try
to financially profit from the membership.
(4) To belong to a club that fostered and encouraged unity,
loyalty, honesty and integrity within the membership.
(5) To discourage cliques within the membership.
The motto of our club:
“Remember your true colors are not only worn on your
back”, is our Club motto. The meaning of this is that although
the members wear common colors on their jackets as a statement
of unity, the real measure of club brotherhood is how you
treat and respect one another. The name of our Club has this
same meaning. Our colors are of Uncle Sam on a motorcycle.
This representation is a proclamation by the Club members
that loyalty, integrity, unity and honesty will be the basis
of our interactions with our fellow True Colors members. One
of the first items of business in putting the club together
was to get the blessing of the local Hell’s Angels chapter.
We met with them twice before they approved our colors and
approved of our operating as a motorcycle club in their area.
Their stipulation was that all of our members join the AMA
and an AMA member patch is visible wherever our patch is worn.
Dave and JJ acted as Co-Chairmen until the fall of 2001 at
which time the Club had their first election of officers.
The membership elected Dave as President and JJ as Vice President.
During this time the Club was chartered by the AMA and the
Club became incorporated (thus protecting any individual from
lawsuits against them on a personal level). Dave served two
terms (4 years) as President. Five of the original members
are still in the Club. Our membership growth has intentionally
been slow. Our goal is to maintain a smaller, close-knit club
with no cliques. We have elected not to sponsor a poker run
and our financial stability is predicated on dues, a small
fundraiser and the monthly 50/50. Although we support other
clubs in their charity events we make a real effort to have
a lot of TCMC rides. As a Club we have donated to the Montgomery
Food Pantry, the Walden Animal Shelter and we visit the Montgomery
Nursing Home every Christmas season and distribute gifts to
the residents. We also have two club parties a year, our summer
party and our Christmas party.
WE ARE IN OUR EIGHTH YEAR OF RIDING ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND (IN MOTORCYCLE SEASON) AND WE HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT ON A CLUB RIDE……….
